about

These classical improvisations were actually improvised at the piano, with no preparation beforehand.

The Album is divided into four parts:

The first part consists of Improvs 1 - 8, the second part consists of Improvs 9 - 12, the third part consists of Improvs 13 - 18, and the fourth part consists of Improvs 19 - 24.

Each part has a different complexity and feel to it. The first part is lighter and more simplistic harmonically, and it build up to a climax in Improv 8, which itself begins very softly and builds up to an exciting climax.

The second part is more complex, yet much softer, with four movements, sort of like a softer sonata, with a tumultuous 3rd movement (Improv 11).

The third part is more varied, and adds in complexity.

The fourth part is the most exciting, and also the deepest of the set. It ranges from the powerfully exciting (Improv 19) to deeply beautiful (Improv 20), to the Epic (Improv 21), and much more.

about

Julius Schmidt New Jersey

Julius Schmidt is a pianist with a unique, emotional sound which encompasses the depth and expressive capabilities of the piano.

His classical piano improvisations are true improvisations. They are all played spontaneously at the piano.

He is also a classical composer, whose style, while tonal, is decidedly modern, yet very different from the style found in contemporary classical music.
